Established in 1972, Hughes/Gardner is a family owned and operated business and was founded with a philosophy of “Quality through training”. Each customer benefits from that forward thinking idea as staff that are properly trained with today’s nationally recognised methods, undertake their duties, both efficiently and effectively, providing standards that our clients expect, for the users of the facilities.

 

Since our formation, we have expanded the services we are able to provide to now encompass daily cleaning in educational, private and retail facilities, window and high level access cleaning, specialist cleaning and services to all fabrics and surfaces of our clients’ facilities.

The British Institute of Cleaning Science (BICSc) and we have been approved as an Assessment Centre. BICSc is the largest independent, professional and educational body within the cleaning industry and all our staff are trained to the institutes nationally recognised training scheme to conform with the client specification

Our employees, stay with us far longer than is usual in our industry – the average turnover within the industry is between 30% and 50%; Our workforce is very stable and currently we have a 2.5% turnover of employees. This has been achieved by supporting and maintaining a mature and established working relationship between ourselves and our employees.

We do not advertise our vacancies in the media; new employees are recruited from within our workforce. This has proved to be a very reliable cost effective method of recruitment. We are aware of the necessity to only employ the highest calibre of staff and it is therefore imperative that every effort is put into the retention of the best employees .
